Ready? Okay. So, when we’re doing
shockwave therapy, there’s really a
couple variables that’s going to make
the treatment effective. One is going to
be the tension in the muscle. So, let’s
say I’m going to do this person’s
shoulder blade or their shoulder here.
If their shoulder muscle is really
tight, we may find if I support that for
her, let this just relax and we let that
muscle relax maybe easier. If on the
other hand, if she’s really tense and
holding up there, it may not allow it to
work as well. So we can change like uh
positions of the muscle to either
increase tension or decrease tension. So
a lot of times in the rhomboids we will
uh have the person cross their arm over
to tighten the muscle or we may have
them lay down to uh to relax the muscle.
So muscle tension can be a variable to
look at. Spacer thickness can be a
variable to look at. The amount of
pre-tension pressure can change as well.
So if we come over this way and we’ll
get a closeup of the shoulder here. So
come on over this way, Azio. So if we
can look here, I’m putting very little
pressure on that. Yet if it’s a deeper
thing, if I go like this now, we depress
some of the tissue that’s that’s non
being treated just so we can penetrate a
little little deeper as well. Sometimes
patients will will report a prickly
sensation versus a dull achy sensation.
Most times that can be resolved by
changing the muscle tension pattern, how
much we press into that area, and the
amount of gel that we have on that area
as well. So, spacer size, gel,
appropriate amount of gel, amount of uh
pre-tension pressure on the treatment
head can change it, and then muscle
tension as well. Those four variables.
Okay.
